Nicole, I agree Keepsake is very hard to write about-I wanted badly to post about it on my blog but I did not see how I could convey the beauty and power of this book without huge sections of quotations.

I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I sort of fell in love with Kirsty Gunn but found her work incredibly difficult to write about, as it seems to slip out from under you when you try to pin it down. Really an atmospheric experience.

I just finished "Keepsake". You are right it is an amazing book unlike anything else I have ever read. It is not always easy to contemplate what occurs in the course of this book and we sometimes do not quite believe what we are hearing. It is beautifully written, almost lyrical work, a puzzle within a puzzle. Thank you for sharing your experience. I will read her shorter work "Rain" soon.
